1. The short version
Calmtree uses very little. Most of what we store is not a cookie at all: it is browser storage that keeps you signed in and stops us asking you the same question twice. One thing on this page is optional, and it is analytics.
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell or share data with advertisers, we do not run session recording, and we do not track you across other websites.
2. Necessary, and not optional
These make the site work. Refusing them is not offered, because the result would be a site that logs you out on every page and asks for consent before every assessment.
| Name | Stored as | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase session | Local storage | Keeps you signed in. Without it you would be logged out on every page. | Until you sign out |
| calmtree_assessment_consent | Local storage | Records which version of the assessment consent notice you accepted, so you are asked once rather than before each of the hundred assessments. | Until the notice is updated |
| calmtree_cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers your choice on the cookie banner, so it is not shown again. | Until you clear your browser data |
| calmtree_pending_result | Session storage | Holds a result you finished before signing in, so it is not lost while you create an account. Cleared once it is saved. | Until the tab is closed |
| calmtree_completion_prompt_shown | Session storage | Stops the sign-up prompt appearing more than once in a visit. | Until the tab is closed |
| sidebar_state | Cookie | Remembers whether you collapsed the sidebar. | 7 days |
3. Analytics, and how to refuse it
These are only set if you accept them on the cookie banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, they are not set at all and nothing about your visit is sent to our analytics provider.
| Name | Stored as | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostHog cookies (ph_*) | Cookie | Counts page views and which features are used, so we can see what is worth improving. No session recording, no keystroke capture, no screen recording. | 12 months |
Analytics data is processed by PostHog and stored in United States, which means it leaves India. It is kept for 14 months.
4. Changing your mind
Clearing your site data in your browser removes every item on this page, including your answer to the banner, so you will be asked again on your next visit. Doing so also signs you out.
Your browser can block cookies entirely. Calmtree is built to survive that: if storage is unavailable we ask for consent again rather than assume it, which is the safe direction to fail in.
